Come join the fun and see how Big is Big

Try to imagine fall without pumpkins.

    To celebrate the importance of pumpkins to the fall season, the Warren County Farmer's Market is hosting  the first Giant Pumpkin contest in conjunction with our Fall Festival  on October 4, 2008. The Giant Pumpkin contest will take place at the Warren Co. Farmers Market in McMinnville, TN.

There will be fun and prizes for the whole family; it all happens at the Fall Festival! The local radio station and newspaper will be in attendance during the day.

    See the Giant Pumpkin Contest and watch the award of the heaviest Pumpkin!  Fall Festival begins at 7 a.m.

  • Pumpkin contest off-loading begins at 7 a.m. with a deadline of 10 a.m. Weigh-in will begin at 11 a.m. with awards to follow.

Top prize is $50.00 for the heaviest pumpkin and an interview for the paper.

  • Compete for bragging rights over whose pumpkin pie is tastiest. For the Pumpkin Pie Contest, entries must be in a non-aluminum pan 9 inches or larger in diameter. Top prize for the most delicious pie is $25.00 The contest will begin at 9 a.m. with judging and samples. Awards will be given immediately after the judging.

  • Paint a spooky face on a hand picked pumpkin. Pumpkin painting will begin at 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Pumpkins of all sizes will be available for purchase and painting supplies will be furnished by the Farmers Market.

 

  •  Kids: Try your hand at our unique twist on bowling; pumpkin bowling! There will be two classifications: 7-9 yrs and 8-13 yrs

Pumpkin bowling will be available from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

  • Try the Coloring Contest. Coloring sheets are available for children 13 and under at the Warren Farmers Market every market day during September and at Warren Co. Ag. extension office.  Participants should bring their colored sheets to the Fall Festival for judging. Judging will begin at 11 a.m. with awards presented after judging.
